Description

Bring your design know how and technical sales skills to this exciting role with a leading North American manufacturer of custom wood ceilings.

Inspire at 9Wood

9Wood is the most award-winning wood ceiling manufacturer in North America. Designers and space owners love our one-of-a-kind wood ceilings that add affordable warmth and majesty to a space. While builders and installers praise us for our fast turnaround times and simple installation solutions.

It's just two of the many reasons why our ceilings are found all over America from universities, schools and auditoriums to funky offices and commercial spaces.

We currently need a Design Assist Specialist to support our sales and design specification teams. If you have a passion for interior architecture coupled with pragmatic know-how of technical sales, then this is the dream job for you!

What's on offer

We are just as passionate about the welfare of our employees as our wood ceilings. We support our team with innovative programs such as Training Within Industry and Ramsay Smart Dollar. Plus, we have an active social calendar with plenty of fun team events.

You'll also enjoy a heap of other benefits that go beyond the norm including:

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Paid Holidays and Personal Time Off (PTO) that increases with tenure
  • 401(k) Program, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • Medical, Dental, Insurance for individual and immediate family
  • Health Savings Account and Health Reimbursement Account available
  • Life Insurance
  • Commuter benefits
  • Continuing education benefits
  • Monthly financial meetings (we show all employees where our financials are)

About the role

Our emphasis is not just to design and make stunning wood ceilings but to offer our solutions that provide the best possible value to our customers too. Your role will be to work with our sales and design engineers to deliver project solutions, answer technical questions and deliver stellar service.

In practice this means:

  1. Facilitate Discovery Requirement Meetings to scope what the customer wants and to make sure it fits within 9-Wood's established standards (and engineering can deliver it).
  2. Work with estimating, engineering and SMC support teams to design and quote the specified solution.
  3. Provide a clear and complete hand-off of captured work to Project Management and then consult with the client (and distributor reps) to set realistic expectations.

The skills and attributes you'll need to thrive in this role

  • You MUST understand the competitive building landscape and general strengths/weaknesses of the construction industry.
  • Possess the negotiation and communication skills to artfully turn away the work we are unable or unwilling to accept.
  • A love of-and a solid track record with-the A & D experience (preferred)
  • Proven Project Management skills (preferred)
  • Know your way around a CRM (preferred)
