Description

The Financial Analyst plays a key role in ensuring the financial health and accountability of United Way of Lane County and the Early Childhood Hub of Lane County. This position is responsible for general ledger accounting, payroll processing, fiscal management, grant accounting and reporting, monthly close support, budget planning and analysis, and financial reporting. This position also supports the annual audit process and ensures compliance with GAAP accounting principles. While this position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, the Financial Analyst will mentor junior staff and provide support for capacity building within the Finance team. This position works closely with all UWLC staff and departments; businesses; donors; nonprofit agency partners; community service groups; government agencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

Accounting and Financial Operations

  • Prepare and post general ledger journal entries in accordance with GAAP and fund accounting principles.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records, ensuring the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Process and post payroll, including benefits accounting and coordination with third-party vendors.
  • Support the monthly and annual financial close process by preparing reconciliations, schedules, and financial statements.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of internal financial controls and procedures.
  • Participate in the annual audit process and ensure audit readiness throughout the year.
  • Support the development, tracking, and analysis of annual and monthly budgets.
  • Track and report on grant funds in compliance with funder requirements and organizational policies.
  • Performs invoicing and billing functions to sub-grantees, partners, and funding agencies.
  • Ensure proper allocation of expenses to grants and timely reporting to funders.
  • Assist with proposal budgets and financial narratives for grant applications.
  • Share knowledge and help build internal capacity around accounting best practices and systems use.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support operational excellence across the organization.
  • Perform other relevant duties and special projects as requested.
  • This position may require the use of a personal vehicle to attend work-related events and activities from time to time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience; nonprofit and fund accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Sage Intacct) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with payroll systems and benefits accounting.
  • Expertise in general ledger management, monthly and annual close procedures.
  • Experience with audit preparation
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in a nonprofit setting with grant management and compliance.
  • Familiarity with donor management systems and federal/state grant regulations.

SALARY STATEMENT

The budgeted salary range for this position is currently $51,00-$70,000 annually. Proffered salaries are determined by several factors including applicant's knowledge, skills, experience, position, equity, and market.

United Way of Lane County's benefit package includes: 4-weeks of PTO and 10 paid holidays; employer paid medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, access to short-term and long-term disability insurance; employee assistance program (EAP); and a 403(b) plan.

Please note: This position offers the flexibility to work from home up to three days per week. However, the employee must be available to work onsite at our Springfield, Oregon headquarters at least two days per week.
